When one of your genes becomes a pacifist
Cellular tumor antigen p53 is a regulatory protein.
When cells get DNA damage, it helps decide whether cells should pause growth to repair damage or die if damaged too much.
It also stops cells from dividing when the time isn't right. Selects between whether cells use glucose hard and fast or slow and efficient.
So TP53 helps cells follow their building plans.
