Were you ever blamed for something you did not do?

On Scapegoats

In Nepal's 2001 royal massacre, Crown Prince Dipendra killed nine family members- including King Birendra.

Then he shot himself.

Days later, priest Durga Prasad Sapkota performed the katto ritual. Rumors said he ate part of the king's remains to absorb not just the king's sins, but all sins in the kingdom.

Afterward, Sapkota was banished on elephant-back while getting pelted with tomatoes.

Twisted from Brahmin priest to "most polluted man in Nepal".
