Staying hungry and happy enough to innovate

Something's always scarce so love chasing game

At this age, my son likes escaping more than he likes chasing others.

I expect that to flip one day.

We have more material wealth than we've ever had. So what's the point? Certainly, people preaching degrowth seem to think there's no point.

However, there are heights we haven't reached.

Family that still needs to be taken care of. Even as we've created such wealth, we've been introduced to new scarcities: like the people I love being spread all over the world.

Now it costs quite a bit to see them all! Different from a village.

And remember, people still die of disease.

Institutional rot, like a wooden balcony floor, is negligible until it collapses the ground we stand on.

One day, people will see our wealth the way we see the wealth of hunter-gatherers.
