Cultural Time-to-live

An Analogy from the Domain Name System

Long TTL means stable but slow-to-update; short TTL means responsive but resource-intensive.

The universe began with short TTLs- everything changing rapidly - and has been slowing to longer TTLs, with structures lasting billions of years.

But…our culture makes pockets of increasingly short TTLs, where information needs constant updating.

So the universe we live in is more stable than ever, with an opportunity to do the same for our bodies.

Yet our minds are subject to more change than ever before.
