In our time, familiarity does really seem to breed contempt.

This may be because our authority figures tend to be far away. For generations, we’ve gotten use to this. However, any strong faith arises from intimate, direct interaction.

So we might need some mystery.

However, there are opacities that come not from deliberate obfuscation, but from skill floors.

Or say, how someone who sails a boat across the Pacific knows the sea or the wind.

Nothing is kept secret there now- yet, how can any of us who’ve never done it understand?
